Salaries

What is a nanny's salary range?

The salaries have a wide range but typically for a full time nanny the average salary is $350-550/week after taxes. A part time nanny generally is paid by the hour and the going rates in the area are $9-15 per hour.

Who negotiates the salary?

Heaven’s Hands Nanny Research Agency does not negotiate the salaries on behalf of the nannies. When a nanny signs on with our agency we ask her for a minimum that she would want to work for. When a client hires us we ask you for a salary cap per week. This information enables us to bring to your attention candidates that fall within the range that you are willing to pay, but negotiation is up to you and the nanny upon your offering her the position. Live-in nannies generally make less than these averages since you are providing room and board. Executive nannies, sometimes called a governess, may command an even higher salary due to her advanced education at a formal “nanny’ school and her increased responsibilities.

What about Au Pairs?

Au Pairs are people that come from other countries to the United States to live in with a family and take care of their children for a small salary. We feel the majority of au pairs are young people who are looking to come to this country to experience the culture and we prefer to represent candidates who are not using childcare as a stepping stone, but rather, feel that childcare is their calling. For that reason, Heaven’s Hands does not work with au pairs.
